One of the best ways to improve a CB station is to place the antenna where it can work efficiently and safely.
On a vehicle
A centered roof location often provides a more symmetric ground plane than a mount at one corner of a vehicle, but vehicle shape, mount quality and practical constraints matter. Tune the antenna after installation.
At home
Clearance from nearby obstructions and properly installed height can improve local coverage. Follow building codes, lightning-protection guidance and required clearances from electrical lines.
Troubleshoot the whole system
Inspect coax loss, connectors, mounting hardware and noise sources before purchasing a replacement antenna. Measure SWR after every meaningful change to the system.
